My Grandfather was an award winning amateur photographer and an inspiration to me. So much so that I originally went to college to study photography. I also spent three years as the Photo Editor of Western Michigan University’s student newspaper, the Western Herald. During that time I developed a passion for photojournalism, and especially street photography. Then, two things happened. First, I discovered that although my first love was photography, it was clear that I wouldn't make a living off of it. Second, I couldn't get a good enough grade in Nude Drawing 2 to move on in my Photography program. So, I changed my major, went on through Graduate School, and spent the next 30some years in Higher Education.

Fast forward to November of 2015 when I retired and looked up my old lover Photography. So here we are together again. I'm a lot older, she's a lot wiser, hipper, and gotten WAY more complicated to be around. But to spite all of her new traits, we're giving it another go.
